Exploring Cartridges with Kassidy~ Give A Hoot

Today I am exploring cartridges with Kassidy from Inking It Up Crazy I happen to be lucky enough to be on her talented design team and she asked one of us to explore a cartridge with her so of course I volunteered. She chose the cartridge Give A Hoot and I am really glad that she did because I bought it when I first got my Cricut because it has owls on it and I love owls. Then I never ended up making anything with it. This is a cartridge full of cute animals but a lot of the sayings are about recycling and saving the planet. I am all about saving the planet and recycling but did not know how to coordinate this with scrapbooking and card making. After being challenged to use it, I was really suprised at how versatile it is. I have many plans of camping, hunting and outdoor scrapbook pages that I want to make with it.

The first picture I posted is of our recycling can in our house. I wanted to make it kid friendly since I am teaching the boys about recycling and why it is important to recycle. I thought if I made it more interesting for them, then they would want to help out.

Products Used:

Give A Hoot Raccoon and "Recycle" Phrase
Post it Craft Paper (all the colors)
Clear Contact Paper
Elmers Craft Bond Spray Adhesive

It turned out great. I used the Elmers Craft Bond so it would adhere better and I used the contact paper so I could wipe the surface down if I needed to and so the cut outs would stay dry.

I wanted to show how this cartridges is so great in many different ways so I used the Earth cut out and some of my Changito the monkey stamps and made my husband a manly Valentine's Day card. I really love how it turned out and he liked it better than the red/pink one I made for my Valentine's Day post.

Products Used:

White Cardstock
Silver Celebrate It Holiday Ribbon
DCWV patterned paper
Brown Cardstock
White Gel Pen
Core'dinations Blue Glitter Paper
Stampendous Changito the monkey stamp
Stampendous Changito sentiment stamp
Star stamp (bought at a garage sale- not sure where its from)
Green, silver ink pads

on the inside I wrote "and you mean the world to me" I also cut around the monkey so I could slide the Earth behind him as if he were holding it up.

I am so glad that I was challenged to explore this cartridge. I put it away when I first got it because it wasnt what I was expecting. As I went through it I have so many ideas of future projects that I would like to make. I think over time that this cartridge will get lots of use and will become one of my most favorite cartridges. To see what Kassidy discovered about this cartridge please visit her site. I cant wait to see what she liked the most about this cartridge that neither of us has really used.

Inking it Up Crazy Valentines Day Design Team Project ~U Stole My Heart

Happy Valentine's Day! Today is our second project for the Inking It Up Crazy Design Team. We had to make something that was both red and pink. I had such a hard time picking a project to do and then I ended up throwing 4 different half done projects away because I didnt like how they were turning out. Finally I came up with a really cute idea but I didnt know how to fit in on a regular sized card so I just ended up making a really big card. :) While making this card I kept my husband in mind as the recipient (except for the colors) because we met on a blind date 11 years ago and he really did steal my heart. (I did make him a more "manly" card that I will have on here tomorrow)

Recipe for Card:

Create a Critter: Raccoon & red embellishment with hearts cut out
Plantin Schoolbook: Letters & black shape cutout
Making Memories Love Story Jigsaw Glitter Chipboard Shapes
Martha Stewart Bakers Twine
White Gel Pen
Black Gel Pen
Black Core'dinations Cardstock (my favorite basic cardstock)
DCVW Flower Shower patterned paper
Me & My Big Ideas flower die cut
Color Box white ink pad
Clear Alphabet Stamps: "my"
White Cardstock, pink cardstock
Recollections red sparkly cardstock

I hope you love my "U Stole My Heart" card. I had a lot of fun making it after scrapping so many other projects. It turned out just like I had envisioned it. I am really fortunate to be on such an awesome team of talented crafters. Please go check out the other amazing projects at Inking it Up Crazy and leave a comment there if you liked the projects that we made. Dont forget to become a follower of my blog because I am going to give away a Sizzix Sidekick die cut machine when I reach 100 followers. Happy Valentine's Day ~ I hope you spend it with the ones that you love!

Inking It Up Crazy Design Team - First Project!!!

I am so excited to have made the Inking it Up Crazy Design Team! Today we have all made our first projects and I am excited to share mine with you! For our first project we had to make anything that had to do with LOVE! I was inspired for my project by a pink button that was in a bag of buttons my mom gave me. From there I made a pig using Create a Critter but I made it too big for a card so I decided to make it into a scrapbook page. This is my second ever scrapbook page and I hope you enjoy it! When I think of Love, I think of my three boys (including my husband) so this page is really fitting to the theme of my project...

Recipe for Page:

Create A Critter Cartridge
Plantin Schoolbook Cartridge
Paper: DCWV Flower Shower Stack, Misc Solid Scrap Paper
Purple Sparkly Core'dinations Cardstock (my favorite paper ever!)
White Gel Pen
Misc buttons and heart accents
American Craft Ribbon
Spots N Dots Cuttlebug Folder - first time using my Cuttlebug!

Thank you for viewing my project! Now go back to Kassidy's page at http://inkingitupcrazy.blogspot.com/ and check out the rest of the design team! They are all really talented ladies and I am so greatful to be a part of the team!

Dont forget to become a follower of my blog as I am giving away a Sizzix Sidekick when I reach 100 followers! Have a great weekend!
